Leif Einar Plahter, "Norwegian Signature Encyclopedia – Painters born before 1920"

Ever since 1986, Leif Einar Plahter had been systematically collecting signatures from Norwegian artwork in parallel with his work at the department of conservation at The National Gallery in Oslo. In 1998, he suggested creating an encyclopedia from this material, which would be of invaluable help in the process of identifying pieces of art.

The signature encyclopedia has signatures, monograms and initials from close to 700 Norwegian painters. They have all been copied directly from the original artwork in order to reproduce them in a highly accurate fashion.

This book is definitely a find for any art dealer, auction house and art enthusiast out there.
